Why a domestic washing machine loses this fight

Eight attachment points is the number to look for. Four lets the blanket rotate inside the cover, and a blanket that rotates bunches at one end - which defeats the even weight distribution you paid for.
The fabric trap
Almost every included cover is minky or micro-mink, because it feels good in a shop and photographs well. It is also the warmest surface in the category. If you already sleep hot, an included minky cover can undo the reason you bought a breathable blanket - the hot-sleeper page goes through the fabrics that do not trap heat, and a plain cotton or Tencel cover is the fix.
